Getting started
What is remote online notarization (RON)? +
Remote online notarization is a legally authorized electronic notarial act in which the signer and notary communicate in real time by audio and video, using approved identity-verification and document-signing procedures. This is different from simply emailing a scanned signature or using a standard video chat.
How do I begin? +
Upload the document on the homepage. The booking form then asks for the primary contact, signer count, signer details, document category, preferred appointment time, notary choice and consent. Submit the request for review.
Do I need an account before uploading? +
No. Guest intake on this site does not require an account. Notary Ninjas may create an internal portal record so your request can be managed with the existing platform. The app and dashboard require their own sign-in.
Will I be notarized immediately? +
Submitting a request is not the same as getting notarized. Notary availability, document review, identity verification and scheduling determine whether and when a live session can take place.
Do I need to download an app? +
No special iPhone app is required to submit a web booking request. The Remote Notary Ninjas iPhone app is optional for repeat users. Your confirmed remote notarization will use the technology specified in your session instructions.
Can I select a specific notary? +
Yes. Our approved remote-enabled notary directory appears on this website. You can request a specific professional or ask us to arrange an appropriate available notary. Assignment cannot be guaranteed before confirmation.
Documents and signatures
What types of files can I upload? +
The booking form accepts PDF, DOC, DOCX, RTF, TXT, JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIF and TIFF documents, subject to the existing platform’s content and format validation. Each file must be no larger than 25 MB, with a maximum of ten documents in this intake.
Should I sign the document before uploading? +
Usually you should leave sections requiring a witnessed signature unsigned until your notary instructs you. Ask the document preparer if unsure. Previously signed documents may have different requirements.
What is the difference between an acknowledgment and a jurat? +
An acknowledgment is a declaration by the signer that they executed the document. A jurat generally requires an oath or affirmation and signing in the presence of the notary. The correct act is determined by the document and applicable law, not chosen by the notary as legal advice.
Do I need to know how many notarial acts are needed? +
An estimate can be entered during booking, and you can indicate that you are unsure. One document can require more than one notarial act or signatory verification. The final scope and charges are reviewed before the appointment.
Can I notarize a power of attorney online? +
Some powers of attorney may be eligible, but execution and witness formalities differ by state and document type. Confirm the form and requirements with the recipient or a qualified attorney before booking.
Can I notarize a will remotely? +
Not every will or estate instrument is eligible for remote execution or notarization. Wills often have independent witness and execution requirements. Confirm with the estate attorney and governing jurisdiction.
Can I use remote notarization for real estate closings? +
Potentially. The lender, title company, settlement agent, recorder and applicable law must allow it. Some transactions require specialized signing agents, eRecording or paper-out procedures. Provide those instructions when booking.
Can I get an apostille here? +
This dedicated website handles only remote notary requests. Apostille or authentication support is a separate Notary Ninjas service available on BrooklynNotaryNinjas.com.
Signers and identification
Can two or more signers participate? +
Yes, enter the number of signers and information for each. The team will confirm whether a single session accommodates everyone, whether they can appear from different locations, and whether added charges apply.
Do all signers need valid IDs? +
Every signer must be identified using the processes required for the commissioned notary and platform. Most cases require acceptable, current government-issued photo identification and additional identity-proofing steps.
Why do you ask for identification type and expiration during intake? +
The request helps assess preparation requirements and potential eligibility. Full identity proofing is performed separately in the authorized session. This site does not ask for ID numbers in the booking form.
Can someone participate from outside New York? +
New York electronic notaries must be physically in New York when performing a New York electronic notarial act. A remote signer may be elsewhere, subject to New York law and additional restrictions when the signer is outside the United States. Other states have different rules.
What if I do not pass identity verification? +
A notary may be unable to perform the act. Contact support for next steps, another acceptable verification method if permitted, or an alternate appointment. Never provide false identity details.
What if my document needs witnesses? +
Check the witness box during booking, add any known witness details, and wait for the notary to confirm the required number of witnesses, their eligibility and the applicable procedure.
Timing, payment and records
How quickly can I get an online notary? +
You can request the earliest available session, but this does not promise instant service. Availability depends on the type of document, signers, time zone, notary scheduling and required preparation.
What is the starting price? +
The currently published Notary Ninjas guest booking estimate is $25 for the first notarial act plus $8 per additional act. Additional signer, witness or platform charges may apply and should be disclosed before payment.
Does uploading a document charge my credit card? +
No. This new website is a booking frontend. It does not take credit card information or automatically charge you at the time of request submission. Payment instructions are handled through the existing Notary Ninjas workflow.
How will I receive session instructions? +
The Notary Ninjas team reviews your booking and follows up with scheduling, the notary or remote platform information, and identity-verification instructions as applicable.
How are my uploaded documents handled? +
Uploaded documents enter the existing Notary Ninjas private session system rather than a new public file repository. The parent platform’s document deletion and retention procedures continue to apply; legally required notarial records can have different retention requirements.
Are notarial journals and recordings deleted with my documents? +
No. New York has specific ten-year journal and audio-video retention requirements for electronic notarial acts. Deletion of temporary client uploads does not override the notary’s independent legal recordkeeping duties.
What if my recipient rejects the notarization? +
Always confirm acceptance requirements before booking. The service cannot guarantee that any court, lender, recorder, foreign authority or receiving party will accept a particular document or notarization.
What if I need to change my appointment? +
Reply to your booking communication or contact Notary Ninjas at hello@brooklynnotaryninjas.com or (718) 710-5263 with your reference number.
